Welcome to my world of passion, care, and commitment to our furry friends. I’m excited to share my journey with you, from my early experiences at a doggy daycare in Ottawa to becoming a dedicated groomer and a loving pet owner. Let me take you on a walk through my story.
In 2009, right out of high school, I embarked on a journey that would shape my love for dogs. I started a co-op placement at a local family-owned doggy daycare, where I had the privilege of caring for over 40 dogs each day. This experience was a profound education in dog behaviour, training, agility, and everything about dogs. My two furry companions at home were dear to me, but watching dogs interact in a group setting opened up a whole new world of understanding. I soon became a full-time associate and spent over four unforgettable years there. The dogs weren’t just pets; they were family. Saying goodbye was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do.
Four years later, my thirst for new experiences led me to explore the vast world of dog care. A family friend introduced me to a groomer trainee program, and I thought, “Bathing dogs, how hard could it be?” As a bather for six months, I quickly realized it was no walk in the park. However, I was determined, and my dedication paid off. I advanced to groomer in training, taking a four-week course to master the art of grooming and ensure the safety of our furry clients.
Grooming was more than just bathing; it was about complete pet care. From trimming nails and shaving pads to maintaining sanitary areas, cleaning ears, and keeping eyes clear, the responsibilities were extensive. I learned to appreciate the intricacies of different breeds and the art of grooming itself.
My journey into grooming was driven by my love for animals and a desire to make them feel better. Every day, I have the privilege of knowing that I’ve made a positive difference in a pet’s life. I firmly believe in working with, not against, the dogs. Grooming may not be their favorite activity, but by understanding their preferences and needs, we can help them feel more comfortable and cared for with each visit.
As a pet owner myself, I understand the trust you place in me when leaving your beloved companion in my care. I know that it’s not always easy, especially for new pet parents, and I’ve seen the worry in their eyes. I want you to know that I treat every pet as if they were my own, with love and utmost care, to ensure they feel safe and happy in my presence. Over time, many clients become like family, and I cherish those connections deeply.
Life took a brief pause as I welcomed two beautiful children into the world. Now, I’m ready to expand my knowledge and continue my work with even more enthusiasm. I’m eager to attend new seminars, learn fresh grooming techniques, and apply them in my home salon. I can’t wait to meet new furry friends and provide them with a warm, comfortable grooming experience.
